2.AUGUSTAN AGE As the Britain Empire was flourishing, the country started getting a materialistic outlook. The importance for money increased. A general interest in nature did not exist. On the other hand nature was being abused and the people had lost all its respect for the very meaning of the word nature. The human mind’s general tendency was to start talking about unwanted and unnecessary things. In this age “epic poems” were of prime importance. [Epic poems: Long poems describing something noble and great] John Dryden, Alexander pope and john Milton were some of the great personalities who have written epic poems.
